I met JJ in pit for Les Mis this summer. He was the drummer so we didn’t see him until production week. The funny thing about it was even though we had never met until that week, JJ talked as if we were old friends. He had this way about him where when he talked to you he really cared about what you had to say. As weird as it sounds, I think it was impossible to have an awkward conversation with him. He just didn’t care about how silly what you were saying was, he was always genuinely interested in making you feel wanted and happy. He was the first Tech student that I met that I a) didn’t already know from my high school years and b) wasn’t related to me. After spending that week with him, I knew that if there were people like him at VT that I would be able to fit in and that I made the right choice. So, thank you JJ for being so happy all the time and really embodying how I think God wants us all to act. I am really going to miss you.

Your sports teams are like your children. You don’t love them because they are good. You love them because they are yours.
